Hidden Harmonies bloggers and readers make a difference

January 20, 2012 by YinYang 4 Comments

We are here to offer a balance that is sorely lacking in the mainstream Western press about all things ‘China’ and ‘Chinese.’ Some of you might have wondered how this endeavor is fairing as we approach our second year. Allen and I are grateful of the authors and those of you who come here to comment. This short post is a ‘thank you’ and an example of the real impact this is having in getting more balance out there.

Following is a snapshot as of today of how Ray‘s recent article, “Debunking Myth of China exploiting Africa Again!,” is being circulated on Twitter. Click on it to read the endorsement for the great discussion.

In the grand scheme of things, this blog’s readership is still relatively small. But as you will see in the profiles of those who tweeted, it is obvious the article and the discussion have a wider reach than just this blog alone.

With the recent SOPA controversy gripping America, Allen’s article, “What does ‘Internet Censorship’ Mean?” got thousands of views yesterday. Google search for “What does Internet censorship mean?” has Allen’s article ranked third in the search result.

Everyone’s contribution here will have an impact. Good job Ray and thank you all.

    congratulations, yinyang;)
    it is indeed a pleasure to hear that we’re finally getting our messages across, and that not everyone is as stupid as the ppl who don’t wish to accept new facts or information concerning reality.

    Congratulations to all of the HH authors on a job well done. This blog is a truly unique resource in giving voice to the voiceless and power to the powerless. Don’t stop! While blogs from angry homesick expats parroting the CNN line – such as those that rhyme with China leeks and Shrieking muck – are a dime a dozen, there isn’t any other website in the English language with a comparably active writership, community, and moral compass.

    What I enjoyed seeing most from HH recently was its timely and in-depth interview with Shaun Rein. Although trailblazers like him may be viciously attacked on the internet, it goes to show that there are allies in the mainstream Western press, and that they should speak and collaborate with each other more often!

    Congrats 🙂

    It takes plenty courage to post ideas and thoughts which challenge mainstream thinking.

    @Naqshbandiyya

    Good job to all the Commenters as well. (I said Commenters, not Spammers).

    Without your participation, HH wouldn’t be the kind of experience that we have hoped for.

    You have injected your own thoughts into the discussions.
