Another great charity I would recommend is Tzu Chi.
They have helped people all over the world and don’t try to preach or convert. A lot of the local chapters are self-sustaining via environmental/recycling programs and when going to disaster areas, volunteers even pay for their own way.
They are also the first overseas NGO allowed into China

I would highly recommend Tsu Chi as it’s one effective organization doing relief work worldwide without any religious or ideological prerequisite. All are volunteers doing good work from the bottom of their hearts. American Red Cross, for example, is run by highly paid professional executives.
