Quick Survey: Have You Noticed a Server Performance Improvement Since Jan 31?

February 4, 2013 by Mr. Allen 5 Comments

We made some server upgrades a few days ago, late of Jan 31, 2013 (U.S. Pacific Time).  The upgrades will cost DeWang and I a little more, but we can afford it.  Still we want to quickly survey our reader to see if you notice a performance improvement.  If you have or if you have not (and want to complain our server performance), please leave a quick comment or send us a private email.

Thanks!

Performance is more responsive now. So is this server located located offsite?

Clicking through to the various pages does seem quicker now.

I didn’t realise that this was how the site was hosted, and must say I thoroughly approve. Thanks! It’s ALWAYS good to have your own “space” on the internet, rather than being hosted at a free site such as blogger. I’ve kept my own webspace with a private provider for a long time, and though I don’t run a website as such it has come in handy in innumerable ways.

For the record, HH now runs pretty fast, both when accessed by regular channels from north China and via a VPN. I guess that’s also because the page design is efficient.

For the record too, I find the longer the thread the better. Some of these longer threads, particularly the recent Great Leap Forward one, are an education in themselves. It’s all in the debate.

I have to say I don’t notice any difference, prob because I use an old (5 years is very old) MacBook Pro. But I find access and browsing HH quite stable and speedy enough anyway. I’d be giving the keyboard a little rest this week so early happy Year of the Snake to all!
