Chinese Premier Wen dons apron for Year of the Rabbit

February 2, 2011 by YinYang 7 Comments

This image of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao struck me, because it captures well how the Chinese population views him. Check out his bunny apron. Anhui is one of the poorest provinces in China.

    I have an apron just like his!

    Is that bitter melon, mushroom and egg soup? My favorite.

    @r v

    Lol. Would you happen to be from Anhui? I had a similar soup near Nanping (I think that’s where Zhang Yimou filmed “Ju Dou”). I remembered it was cooked in a wok. Had egg in it with smoked pork. It was really awesome. Don’t remember if it had the bitter melon though.

    No, I’m from Shanghai.

    Bitter melon egg mushroom soup is pretty standard in my family.

    The rabbit apron makes it seem a bit superficially staged

    Everything around politicians are generally staged. Never seen an Obama visit to a factory?
