Bahrain Revolution escalates, with Opposition majority Shiites protest against Ruling Sunni government block discrimination.
Bahrain deployed police, backed by Saudi police and government block supporters carrying guns and sticks, tried to disperse protesters, but were unable to.
The Entry of Saudi security forces to crack down on the protesters with deadly force is a complication for US policies, to say the least, since US is reluctant to criticize its oil ally dictators in the region.
(Or do the talk, but not the walk).
Long called the “Las Vegas” of the Middle East, Bahrain is home to the US 5th Fleet, as well as being a favored “sin city” type destination for the Rich Saudi’s, who are forbidden by Islamic laws at home from indulging in alcohol and prostitution, but who often vacation in Bahrain for these reasons.
Bahrain is ruled by Sunni’s who account for no more than 30% of the population, while the majority 70% Shiites are relegated to the status of 2nd class citizens.
One could only ask, where are the sanctions and no fly zones?

UAE sent about 500 troops to Bahrain, Saudi Arabia sent about 1000 troops to Bahrain, to “maintain peace”.
US has dismissed characterization of these foreign troops in Bahrain as “invasion”.
Instead, Defense Secretary Gates has raised the spector of Iran as exploiting these protests by the Shiites.
Why yes, Mr. Secretary, Iran probably does want to exploit it, just as US wanted to exploit the protests in Libya and even in China, but since when does that matter to “democracy”?
Isn’t this your Ghadafi moment? When will US announce publicly that the Bahrainian and Saudi Shiites “love” their US ally dictators? Or perhaps throwing the spector of Al Qaeda for good measure?
Somehow, I don’t think the protesters are convinced. In fact, I think Gates’ raising of Iranian spector may actually prompt the Shiites to protest harder (if indeed they are supported by the Iranians).

Gadaffi Strikes Back is real; type keywords “gaddafi strike” into new.google, Google Instant will suggest “gaddafi strikes back”. Now that it’s appearant these protesters aren’t remotely peaceful, the controlled media message is they are fighting a heroic battle against the ultimate evil.
But seriousely, why hasn’t Saudia Arabia met with violent protest? Could be the King was smart enough to bone up the stick and at the same time gave his people tens of billions of dollar in raises and social benefit? Same thing with US government, as long as Congress continue to extend unemployment benefit, Cheese Revolution will never go violent.
When we pay our own people, they listen and stay loyal. When others pay our people, they are not loyal. This is a basic rule in the game Ages of Empires.
I hope China heeds this and speed up development of socisl wellfare even more.
