Short post. With the recent events with Donald Trump, Kim Jung Un Summit Meeting, even the western media are questioning the effectiveness of Donald Trump. Now even the Media refers to following of Trump to some kind of Cult.
China has gone that path before with the Cultural revolution but is Trump’s America is going down the same road?

There is a difference between Cultural Revolution and counter cultural revolution. Mao tried to remake human nature in a short period of time and failed, while Trump just want to return U.S. to previous historical norm against history and historical forces. As I remarked in earlier posts, Trump is a chaos force and accelerating the decline of American Empire. I was worried that he will cause a holocaust in Korea Peninsula instead he’s now releasing a tariff war with China and immigrant war within U.S.. The question is how to deal with his threat of total tariff war on $200/400 billion export from China. He is doubling down on everything from separating parents from children to threaten total tariff on China. He’s banking on the fact that the discrepancy on import and export with China and the fact that U.S. still has the highest nominal GDP and the dollar as world reserve currency. Trump is qualitatively no different than ISIS wanting to push back against modernity except he wields with the power of American Empire behind him.

I suspect that China will impose 10% tariff on all U.S. imports and Trump will impose tariffs on all Chinese imports, including I guess all Apple I-Phones which will hit U.S. consumers. World commerce will slowly come to a halt, and stock markets everywhere will drop precipitously. The mid term election will not matter as Democrats are generally against China trade also. But China can live with the resulting chaos better than U.S., as China accelerates the China 2025 transition to high tech. One Road and Belt strategy will payoff handsomely, and most importantly Chinese consumers are willing to pay the price of higher prices and austerity.

I agree with much with what you said. I refer the Cultural revolution of Trump is because his Cult like BS is believed by many of his followers, much like Mao at its time. And like Mao at its time, did many things that is considered controversal and Trump is really on the deep end this time.
We will hear news about Trade wars with China but China will do fine. If the trade wars continue, China will turn up the pressure on American companies doing business in China which will hurt US even more. The attention grabber Trump is just drama everyday while US is turning itself to be a reliable ally to many countries pissed off by Trump. As I said, Trump is the best thing to China since Nixon.

Saw a video of Trump supporters getting screwed by Trump because of the tariffs and they still support him. If this is not a damn cult, I don’t know what that is.
