 …
«Interviewer»: Mehdi Hasan (born in the UK)

Zhang Weiwei, professor of international relations at Fudan University; author of «The China Wave: Rise of a Civilizational State» (World Century Publishing Corporation, 2012)
In the panel:

Steven Chan, professor of international relations at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London; author of the book «Robert Mugabe: A Life of Power and Violence», https://www.amazon.com/Robert-Mugabe-Life-Power-Violence/dp/0472113364

…
Here are some comments to the program from Youtube:
«This man is so rude. He don’t even give the guest a chance to speak.»
«… the interviewer in this video is very obnoxious and disrespectful, if I’m Dr Zhang Weiwei, I will tell him: «Your country is advance enough to give you this level of education of manners.»
«The interviewer is very unprofessional. Your job is to ask questions and listen, not to express your opinions and argue with the guest let alone adding insults and condescension to your speech for a subject that you do not fully understand.»
«Quality of the questions are below bar. Typical biased provocation.»
«The whole purpose of this is to humiliate Zhang»
«This racist Indian is not qualified to host event, he is extremely rude»
«Thank you Mehdi Hasan. I’ve learned absolutely nothing.»
«The more propaganda against China by BBC, CNN & now Al Jazeera, the more I admire China.»

When people who wants to claim that democracy is so great, all they have to do is to look at the circus surrounding the 2016 presidential elections here in the US.

    Not unexpected.
The program is catered to western educated Arabs. While they, including the journalist and interviewer have legitimate grievances against the West, the journalists somehow get the idea that they have to balance their complaints against the west by disparaging China.

I did not view the whole program. I bet Martin Jacques would be better. I like his book “When China Rules The World.”

    “When China Rules The World.”

That’s precisely the difference that makes China Chinese – Chinese really have no urge to rule the world, unlike people of the West. I really believe it has to do with their (the West) religious roots – they have this missionary zeal to save humanity, which means they have to make everyone follow their “system”.

I often go through the various satellite channels and Al Jazeera was a good source at one time before it fell in line with the rest of the usual suspects like cnn and abc ( the highly biased “independent” Australian state controlled broadcaster ( note the Tony Abbott recent revamp of it ) – who are almost evangelical about bashing China any which way .
But the smartest of all “independent ” state broadcaster , the BBC of Britain takes the cake . A recent or maybe not so recent 3 part documentary called secret China by a Billie JD Porter , a dyed blonde ( why must they choose blonde when they go to Asia ) journalist who has risen through the ranks of the young and the youth culture of british TV ( through Channel 4 I believe which is essentially a BBC well disguised subsidiary .

She interviews Western educated mainland Chinese “who are used being free and living in the West ” and she talks about forming “movements ” to counteract the government …. And ask why cant this happen in China etc etc …she visits Hong Kong and proudly declares it as a former British run territory where free speech is allowed but increasingly being clamped down by China …

For me Billie Porter is Brilliant and even more cunning strategy to infiltrate and influence public opinion and let’s face it ” stir s**t ” in China and indeed Asia .

If only someone should advise her that blonde is OUT and that she should channel her efforts to The USA instead followed by Australia .

    Sigh
